Sorry to bother you about it. Your hosting provider should provide you with a username and password to connect to your website's FTP. The issue has been addressed in more recent Joomla! Warning Jinstaller: :install: Cannot Find Joomla Xml Setup File but jeez guys, it's March 2011 and this bug has been around for years!

For example, it scans uploaded archives for PHP code - something that should not be done in the Extensions Installer (com_installer).
