What happened with answering the question robbieduncan asked? All you have to do is paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V again. By a "system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software -- potentially for the worse. Most people reading this will not have used this minor library (I've certainly never heard of it).

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional.
Need to play around more with this, but also wanted to take care of the UUID problem... insane... That file has somthing to create UUID's ...but my guess is that it is not working..like maybe it checks for the type of computer...so we may need to figure out a on wikipedia, you see how you can identify which kind of UUID you're using.I was planning to use the UUID generator available here: http://www.hsoi.com/hsoishop/software/ which has an option to generate MAC/time Upon further investigation and by observing the system.log, I found out that while basic networking was OK, I was experiencing various hiccups with AFP permissions, Bonjour (mDNS) not starting, etc.
